Point Wells Road

Adding value and lifestyle to an existing home

Point Wells Road – Point Wells

To build new or renovate – that is the question

At least that was the dilemma facing Wendy and Terry. Homeowners who want to create their dream home have two choices: they can renovate an older house, or they can buy a brand-new home. Renovating your current home is a good solution for a growing family or one with changing needs, especially if you love living where you are. However, that was not the issue facing our clients.

Wendy and Terry were ready to move off their 4-acre block, and they thought they were ready to build new in a subdivision in Point Wells, near Omaha, but it didn’t quite work out that way.

Wanted – builders for renovations!

Their plans were turned upside down when they found this 1980s cedar and brick home set on 3000m2 of established gardens in Omaha. Not only could Wendy continue to ‘potter’ in the garden, as she loves, Terry could have his pimped-out man-cave in the double garage. Suddenly, they needed to find some skilled builders for renovations.

Renovating this home for Terry and Wendy was fun as well as very satisfying. Being involved from the beginning, we were able to get a clear understanding of what they wanted, agree on a sensible renovation plan, and through hands-on project management, create the home our clients really wanted.

The building brief

Rather than move into a brand, spanking new home and grounds, Wendy and Terry decided to retain the character of their new home in Point Wells, and breathe new life into it. They asked us to take an older home needing a refresh and turn it into something impressive. Wendy wanted to “make it her own”, all the while keeping the 80s farm-style feeling.

Working together, we considered the effects the renovation would have on the functionality of the house and their lifestyle, and the result works beautifully.

Registered builders for renovations on the job

We worked closely with both clients and as a team we created a beautiful home, and we’re proud to say, we did it under budget. Wendy was delighted. All her boxes were ticked, and she’d been able to do all she’d wanted without blowing out expenses.

We did a full renovation: gutted and replaced the kitchen, fully renovated the bathrooms, laid new floors, we knocked down internal walls, replaced the tired aluminium joinery, installed ranch sliders, painted throughout and built lovely big new decks. We used existing features and fittings and reshaped the original rooms, so they now flow into modern living spaces.

What we liked

We’re really pleased with the way we have managed to keep the 80s traditional, farmhouse feeling, yet created so much space and light. There are three stand-out features in this home for us. The first is the gorgeous engineered laminate flooring throughout; we really like the tones. New cedar barn-style doors separating the dining and spacious lounge area are also a great feature, but the piece de resistance, we reckon anyway, is the entrance, which Wendy designed herself. The black aluminium door has mullions in the panels either side, allowing more light in and creating an old-fashioned look.

What
our
clients
say

We used Edwards Builders for a major renovation in Point Wells earlier this year, and I contracted Beau Edwards to project manage the entire process for us. I have to say we have built many times in the past and this was by far the most efficient and effective process I have every been involved with. From beginning to end it was enjoyable and engaging, with excellent communication, including total clarity around invoicing and costs. There was never a day that there weren’t builders or tradespeople on the job from 8am to 5pm. It was obvious from the get go that all the builders and Beau’s tradies were highly skilled, adaptable and flexible (as well as really great people) and the end product reflects this. We are absolutely thrilled with the result. Our newly renovated home is just beautiful, and it was on budget and on time!!. We would not hesitate to use Beau and his team in the future.

We are more that happy to be contacted should potential clients want to discuss our experience further.
